With the beautiful weather we’ve settled into our routine of theater games and pizza on Mondays in May. By consensus of the group we will meet on Monday in the park for our final session this month and discuss Mondays in June. These informal sessions are a lot of fun and everyone enjoys visiting over pizza at the end of our 90 minute session. I am enjoying what develops from the sessions and I can envision writing scenes based on the improvisations. We may try that in June. Some members of the group want to bring us their favorite theater games and we are eager to do so! While we plan for next season, it is wonderful to have a continuation of the work. We get to discuss acting technique and styles along with stage directions and character work in an informal setting without the pressure of mounting a show. In the fall these sessions will develop into a music/movement format to the view of staging our fundraiser performances and moving onto casting and rehearsing the spring musical. That brings with it schedules and many meetings. For now, it is a joy to work with a group of actors in a room full of laughter and joy.
