I love the holiday season and, when coupled with auditions for our Spring production of Guys and Dolls, I can’t help but merge the two into a joyous melody.
“Oh, you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I’m telling you why.
Guys and Dolls is coming to town.
With a Tralala here and a Tralala there, Dancer and Prancer flying through the air.
Guys & Dolls is coming to town.
Put your music in a binder. Dust off those tapping shoes. You needn’t hit the highest C, but belt it out for you and me. Please!
Oh, you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I’m telling you why.
Guys and Dolls is coming to town.”
If Christmas isn’t your holiday, we can bring out the Dreidel song.
“Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, Adelaide has a cold. Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, tell Nathan to propose.”
Enough silliness. I am thrilled to say that we’ve had two workshops for Guys & Dolls during which we taught choreography for Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat. Brian C. Jones set the steps–the actors LOVE him–and I got to either participate or watch. Okay, I danced. The kids look great. They are learning individual steps to the view of putting it all together. I love it already.
It’s the week of “meets”. We will have a production meeting this week, a marketing meeting this week and a board meeting this week. On Sunday we are going to look at a college with Georgia and then we have two meetings. On Monday, I get the sides laminated and Glen is preparing the paperwork for the actors to fill out and on Monday night TRU hosts a year end social event for our producers’ support group at The Producers’ Club in midtown . On Wednesday, Georgia and I are going to see the lovely Victoria Rae Sook in “Small Town Scandal in the Big City . On Thursday, December 13th, we hold auditions. Yay! We may need a second set; my preference is to get it down in one session. We will see. All of our support staff is in place ready to go. I feel like an elf. Well . . . there I go with the holiday stuff again. More later.
